747-8 VIP Intercontinental First Customer Delivery
Boeing celebrated a major achievement on February 28, 2012 with the delivery of the first new 747-8 VIP airplane. The VIP version of the 747-8 Intercontinental provides a cabin with 4,786 square feet (444.6 square meters) and includes Greenpoint Technologies' Aeroloft. Located above the main cabin between the upper deck and tail of the 747-8 VIP, Aeroloft gives the airplane 393 square feet (36.5 square meters) of additional cabin space.
This VIP airplane will be designed to carry 100 passengers up to 8,840 nautical miles (16,372 km) and is the only large airplane in its class that fits today's airport infrastructure, giving its owners the flexibility to fly to more destinations. The new 747-8 is a significant improvement in performance over the 747-400 while flying farther and faster with less emissions, noise, and fuel consumption.
